History

The Software Engineering Department was established in 2020 and continues its activities within the Engineering and Architecture. The department admitted its first students in the Fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year and graduated its first students in the Spring semester of the 2023-2024 academic year.

Turkish Republic Citizens: Students are accepted in the program by OSYM and complete their financial obligations and final registration on the announced registration dates. Foreign Citizens: Foreign students are accepted in accordance with the criteria determined by the University Senate. Vision: The Software Engineering Department has the vision of being one of the leading departments with the education it provides in its field, contributing to literature and technological developments and becoming a pioneer in meeting the requirements of engineers with the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies in the sector with the students who are trained. Mission: The Software Engineering Department is a department has the mission of educating individuals who have the ability to think scientifically and analytically, comply with the rules of professional ethics, are solution-oriented, entrepreneurial, produce applications and solutions that serve and benefit humanity, and perform original scientific studies at national and international levels. Aims and objectives: Software Engineers aim to increase the quality features and metrics of the software produced by optimizing these processes. In the modern world, the increasing importance of software engineering in Information Technologies allows graduates to be preferred in different business areas. General Information: Software Engineers are engineers who can provide services in the information technology sector and can be employed in the related field in the management and development of software analysis and design, implementation, software testing and publishing activities defined in the basic steps of software development process models, and software architecture.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Graduates find job opportunities in computer aided automation in technology, software development in public and private sector, management of software development processes, optimization of processes, network security and system management. Students who have successfully completed the program can apply for master's and doctoral degrees in Software Engineering science or other branches of science that accept students from this field.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Students who register for the relevant course at the beginning of the semester must have attended at least 70% of the theoretical courses and at least 80% of the applied courses in order to take the final exam. The contribution of the midterm ( homework, laboratory exam, quiz, etc. scores obtained from measurement tools such as can also be evaluated as a midterm grade) to the success grade is 40%, and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. Graduation Requirements

To graduate, students must have successfully completed all the courses included in the curriculum (for a total of at least 240 ECTS) and their grade points sverage must be at least 2.00 out of 4.00; also the students must have successfully completed an internship or graduation project. Facilities

Electronics and computer laboratories in our department provide practical knowledge required for applied courses as well as basic courses. By the elective courses, our students can gain an interdisciplinary perspective by specializing in the fields they want. They can gain work experience in organizations operating in the sector with the Occupational Practice course. In addition, students who wish to study in other fields can also apply to our minor and double major programs. Thanks to the ERASMUS agreement of our university with reputable universities in various countries of Europe, our students can continue their education in a different country between six months and one year.
