This class is for providing basic conceptual and contextual knowledge of theories of IR. Students are expected to be familiar with ontological, epistemological, methodological, normative, and meta-theoretical discussions of contending IR theories. Besides of theoretical discussion on the basic concepts of IR (such as power, national interest, justice, war, just war, peace, conflict and harmony of interest, raison d’état, order, expansion, anarchy, security, survival, offence-defence balance, balance of power, state, distribution, cooperation, emancipation, hegemony, etc) EIRS203.1 aims to provide different theoretical explanations of current international environment and developments.
