This course is specific to international students studying at Nişantaşı University. The course aims to explain the history of the Turkish revolution for students studying in Turkey. To better understand this revolution and Turkish history, the Ottoman state initiated the year's modernization and will point. As a background for this inquiry, it be will first outlined the major patterns of the nineteenth-century Ottoman modernization and reform movements.

t will be pointed on the revolutionary developments of the period 1908-1945. In particular, it will be examined the Young Turks movements. The course will be concluded by looking at the major political and socio-economic developments that the republican regime underwent over the course of the period 1945-1980. It will be paid close attention to the rise and fall of “national developmentalism” as a framework to understand the crisis of Turkish democracy in this period. The evolution of the course: there are a mid-term exam and final exam. Unless otherwise stated, exams will be classic exams. Students must follow the videos and the course regularly; moreover, they need to read the articles and chapters week by week; otherwise, the course does not make any sense. Students can use the above e-mail address for anything. No other means of communication other than this address are accepted.
